Finished Part One of Blog Refactoring

To keep you in loop, I have now:

  • reorganized blog categories,
  • removed summerofcode 2006 blogroll,
  • removed recent comments and trackbacks menuitems,
  • added rotating quotes, hand-picked :)
  • replaced hard-to-use search form with google search

Site looks a lot cleaner now :)

Let’s see where do we get with this now, I really hope to find more readers as I’m going to put more time into this blog and writing in general.

Sounds like you’ve been busy? What motivated your decision to remove recent comments and trackbacks menuitems? Spam? I found that I couldn’t add them until I got spam under control without making the site look like it’s been taken over by spammers.

Hi Ed, thanks for your thoughts!
For me the case has been more about spam vs real comment ratio. I had very few comments/trackbacks. Comments and Trackbacks menuitems just took more space then they deserved. If the blog is becoming more popular and gets more comments then I might restore this :)

I have moderated comments so no spam ever actually appeared on site. Most of these spam comments are test-comments to see if these comments get to the site automatically.
